Lantern Festival is one of the biggest traditional festival in China. It is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month of the lunar year.

Several days before Lantern Festival, people begin to make lanterns. Lanterns are made in many different shapes, while making lanterns people usually write riddles on them.

On Lantern Festival, all the lanterns have been hung up outside and people go outside to have a look at the beautiful lanterns and guess the riddles on them, it is very interesting.

Perhaps you can also see some wonderful folk performances, Dragon Dance, Walking on Stilts, Yangge Dance, Variety Show. People sang and danced, filled with joy everywhere.

On this day, people also eat a special food "Tangyuan" which is made from glutinous rice flour mixed with a small amount of water and stuffed with sweet black sesame paste or ground peanuts. It is cooked and served in boiling water. Tangyuan also has another name "Yuanxiao". Lantern Festival is actally "Yuanxiao Festival" in Chinese. Eating Tangyuan means family reunion and happiness in the new year, so eating Yuanxiao is a much on this day.
